The following website contains rather a special carbon fibre Waveblaster 1. One of only two that were built. The other carbon blaster belongs to a chap who lives just outside Florida. Wamiltons in the US are making similar hulls again I believe. As the ski is so rare I have decided to log the rebuild on a website for three reasons. One so I have a step by step rebuild to show any future owner how it has been built. Two if I decide to keep the ski for any length of time I can look back on the rebuild. Three for you to see how easy you can transform a tatty ski to a smart and reliable ski.
This carbon blaster is very unique in a few ways. It has a longer hull to give it better stability plus sponsons which you normaly find on larger ski's and it has a very rare hood which has twin carbon air ducts. The engine and all the working parts are all race spec.
The ADA engine which is fitted will produce approx 120-130 hp. For example a new yamaha waverunner 1300GP will produce 170hp but its about three times the weight of the carbon blaster. So power to weight, the blaster will be extremely fast. Anyone rebuilding a blaster can see how the ski is put together by the pictures I have taken. So if You need to work out for example how to take off the impeller? you can see from the pump picture its really not that complex and is held in by only a few bolts. You can change impellers on blasters in about 1 hour. So if you have never tried to maintain your ski before then I would say try it and you can maintain the ski better if you know how things work. The nice thing about Yamahas is that they are very easy to work on yourself so you wont have to use dealers at £30.00 an hr plus. Once the ski is finished I will post detailed diagrams on most of the work I have done ie: bearing replacement, impeller replacement, cooling route, fuel pipes, exhaust removal, wiring, etc. I will also include a short video of the ski racing against my 1300R once its run in.
So read on and I hope its got some interesting points for you, and if you need any help on blasters drop me a line and I will try to help. This site is always being updated with blaster tips etc
